Dynamics PRC is the Formula Student team of Politecnico di Milano.
The team currently consists of more than 100 engineering students who design and build a formula-style racing prototype every year; uncovered wheels, carbon fiber monocoque and a great research on aerodynamics. The team as we know it started in 2013 with the DP5 prototype. In the early years there were many challenges that the students had to face but with perseverance and commitment they managed to improve more and more over the years until reaching the peak of success with the DP11 prototype of the 2019 season. It is worth noting the progress of the team, proven by the introduction of a monocoque frame completely composed of carbon fiber and the introduction of a complete aerodynamic package in 2016 as well as the continuous refinement of the Aprilia 550 twin-cylinder engine to obtain a power of 70 horsepower and a continuous reduction in weight to 160kg.
In the 2019 season the team took home gold in the Italian and Dutch races and, even more surprisingly, they were the first Italian team to reach the podium in the German race, with a third place. These incredible results have led the team to be the first among the Italian teams and fourth in the world in the internal combustion category. After all this success, in the automotive and motorsport world the team is on the lookout for new challenges to try their hand at, and so the team has switched to a fully electric prototype. The 2020 season started with many new challenges, full of enthusiasm and prospects. Unfortunately, in February the team had to stop due to the pandemic and the various races were all canceled. To make up for this lack, an entirely online replacement event was organized in which much more weight was given to state events and to the evaluation of the project from an engineering point of view. The third place at this event is a confirmation of the validity and skill of the Dynamis students. The team is currently producing the car that should have been racing in 2020. Once completed the team will proceed with a series of track tests aimed at verifying the numerical models used in the design. In the meantime, however, it will produce some improved components, in order to be able to take them to the race this summer. The team will partecipate in the Italian, Dutch and Hungarian competition.
